Last post: English language Challenges

I consider that this subject is very important in the complete professional and personal formation, because today is required to know English in a lot of jobs, and this is like a universal language.  For this reason the university like institution destined to educate us, is perfect place for learn or in some cases to improve a language that is not own.

The use of blogs is innovative, I never had use a blog and I thought attractive how we could to share differents points with respect to same topics, or in my case, to learn about sociological perspective. The blogs were like screens that showed a part of us: our history, preferences, opinions,  expectatives of future, among other things. And of course this technological resource was good for see the manage of English that my classmates and me have.

Personally, I since that I was in school I have had interest in this language. I like it, but I find some difficult to learn it, overall when I have to listen someone speaking english. I recognize that I need to improve my comprehension and writing, and I have to increase my vocabulary. For get this objective, it came to my mind the possibility to dedicate everyday at least twenty minutes to listen something said in English, can be a song, a movie, a serie. The idea is start for simples sentences and gradually to add difficulty. Also, I don´t  rule the possibility to take a intensive course in the future, if so I require. 

I try to use English outside the classes, but is complicated when the rest of people don´t to know it. The only exception is an aunt that studied traslation, when I am with her I try to speak the most that I can and I ask her about any words, pronunciation and other things. When I do it, my intention is to practice this language, use it in everyday situations.

My future job

When you are in third grade is natural think in the future therefore you think  what major you will take most of all when the offer of major  is so varied.  Well, personally  I have in mind to take a major in Clinical Psychology, because I like so much this field; specialized in treat the emotional and behavioral disorders.

I would like to work as infant and child psychologist, trying of help to children and their parents to understand what happening them and wich are the best strategies for try with psychological difficulty for example.

For choose a job I would consider a salary to match with my performs and to match with position that I will hold. Also, I think that is important to keep in mind how is the work atmosphere because this can influence me in my task, for this reason is very preferable that  there is good organizational climated. Others aspects that would be importants for me, could be to have any benefits, would be ideal that the job is located near of my house, in such a way that I don´t delay to arrive.

With respect to my strengths I can recognize that I am able to work in a team without problems, I have many patience, and I have good disposition to play the role that assign me. For other hand,  I’m terrible for come to time, tardiness is one of my biggest flaws.

Discrimination

The discrimination has been a social problem during many time and that seems none stop. I don´t know exactly why people discriminate but I suppose that the reason for discriminate is that any people have a feel of superiority and they need show their individuality and satisfy their  feel of superiority. The chilean society is very discriminative, we can see in Chile how people discriminates to people for many aspects: religion, race and culture, social strata (therefore, discrimination for economic situation), appearance,  age, political and sexual preference, physical and psychological condition, among others. Now in our country there is a law about this topic, this is called “Anti-discrimination Law”. This was born since case of Daniel Zamudio, a homosexual young man that was brutally killed for his sexual condition.
Also, is usual see how in jobs interviews to discriminate for  appearance, because the society believe that “the look” of someone can give them more information about how is that person than content of his speech.
I know that sound strange but I never have felt discriminated, at least not that necessary for remember it. Nevertheless I have felt that the old people don´t consider entirely my opinion.
We need change education about the diversity and to teach since kids to people about tolerance and respect to all people independent of their religion, skin color, social position, etc. Many people say that “everybody are same” but is not true, "Everybody are same" compared to how valuable we are and relevance of our existence. Somehow everyone is a piece of a big puzzle.

How green are you?

Actually around the world  take relevance among people the state enviromental. The enviromentally friendly practices are more open to everyone thanks to internet  and other media
Personally I have think many times in recycle, but I never  have carried out. The principal reason  is that I live with my mum and brothers, so I believe that they  it would be difficult to get into a habit like this. Also, I live in a small flat where it is impossible to fit a lot of landfills. Even I try to incorported another way to care enviroment, for example I try to walk instead use a bus or underground.
I have not joined or supported any eco-organizations basically because I consider that all organization need time,  money and commintment. In this moment have not time and money, I just have means well, but is not sufficient. I would love to participe in activities that teach  to people about enviromentally.
For reduce my carbon footprint, I do not use sprays, when I wash I use little water and little gas and I turn off all lights that I am not using,
I think that our society are not fully educated about this issue and many people don´t interest what happen with enviroment.  Even though in Santiago there are many “Green reciclyng places”, where all people can lead their garbage properly separate and contribute to the care of planet.

My favorite class

Maybe you don´t know what career I am studying. Well, I ´m in third year of Psychology. Eventhough I have had many subjects very interesting in this years,like “Mental Disorders and Crime” or “The person of therapist”.  I have a favorite class, this is Psycopathology; class that I had past year.
Psycopathology is the discipline that analyzes the motivations and characteristics of diseases of mental character. Therefore, in class we saw mental and personality disorders, its symptoms, and  recommended treatments.
I really loved this class for several reasons, among them are: that I learnt a lot of topics related to diagnostic criteria for say that someone has a mental or personality disorder, also I learnt how to make a mental examination, an anamnesis, and  a structural interview.

Undoubtedly, there have been of great help throughout the career, because in other classes are very applied terms of Psychopathology. For other hand, related to my professional developt, I need know and manage this matter because in my case I would like to job with children and I hope help them and to achieve it, I need recognize if they have any disorder and wich would be it. Also I require know variety of therapies and treatments that can be implemented depending of case.
So, this class is very useful for everybody who want know what aspects consider in a patient, what would make or not in a interview and how to interpret all compiled information.
Is a very interesting subject!

My Butterfly Effect

Today I want talk you about one of my favourites movies: “Butterfly Effect”  this film is of science fiction and is based in “The chaos theory”  that say to “when happen something in somewhere, this event has repercussions in other place of  world”.
The film released in 2004, was directed by Eric Bress and in the cast are Ashton Kutcher  and Amy Smart like protagonists, also are William Lee Scott and Elden Henson.
The story deals with a man called Evan Treborn( Ashton Kutcher) that suffer losses in the notion of time since he was a child, for this reason is treated by psychiatrist that recomend him write a diary of life, permiting that he recover his memories. The most sorprising is that he can replay situations that he lived. So, he has the possibility to does changes in the past that repercute in the future (his present life). He wait that this changes done in the past has good consecuences, because he has had a life full of unpleasants events.  But in all cases  seem worst the consecuences. Finally, he recognizes that the only way to has good life is not meet never to his best friend Kayleigh Miller (Amy Smart) that he has loved always.
I like this movie because its plot is very interesting and the production is fantastic, the story is so well done. I believe that I have watched “Butterfly Effect” as five or six times and I never get  bored.
I recomend this film to everybody!!!

The job I would like to have

My best holiday

I think my best holiday was about 11 years ago, when I even was a child. Me and my family toured to south of Chile by car. In that occasion the destiny was Chiloé. I remember this holiday with nostalgic,  because since this time I was in love of country´s south, and I just wanna go back.
Before, we had gone to Los Angeles, but in that occasion we could meet many cities like: Temuco, Osorno, Valdivia, Puerto Montt, among other. Even though every place had something special, I fell in love of Chiloé. This place certainly has magic, I loved its landscapes, the lush vegetation, the friendliness of the people and their traditions.
Among all this trip there was many anecdotes, for example I remember that at every restaurant, we had to hide under the table to my dog. Also as there were many people, I had to sleep with my brother and my parents on a bed, and the bed could not withstand the weight and broke it.  We also had a crossing by boat , we met lovely churches and we bought many souvenirs. Was so funny!!
Nothing better than a family holidays.

Child safety

I read a article about the best way to warn about the risks to children. The topic is related with the cases of sexual abuse and abduction that have been showed by various communication media in the last time.

The article criticizes a lack of public service campaigns, wich was very popular in the past. Also, the article collects recommendations of three specialists related with this topic. The first specialist said it is important that parents don`t overprotect to their children and reinforce the idea that not all strangers are dangerous. I agree with it, because when the children are overprotected they can develop a great dependence on their parents and this can affect them in the future. For other hand, a professor of Psychology said that the best instruction to give to children is "not to go off with someone unless they have first checked with their parent or carer". I consider that this point is very important if we consider  that the majority of children who are abused or abducted are done so by people known to them. Finally it is recommended that from an early age, parents should ask to their children "How you would react to a certain situation" and guide them to find the right answers. 

Personally, I think that to this information should be added a call to parents to be more aware of what their kids are doing at all times.

A Country I would like to visit

I would like to visit England.  I love its culture, tradition  and history. England is a country with beautiful landscape, I would love run for its low hills and plains or travel its woods. Also call me attention English culture,  characterized by  the punctuality and tradition like The Tea Hour. I have always heard that people are polite, correct and well-bred.  For other hand, The English Art is well-known globally  for have a wide range of expressions such as its classic architecture, that can be seen  at various castles, abbeys and cathedrals. I would like to visit the most famous buildings: The Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle,  Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Tower of London.  Also this place has many art galleries, museums and theaters, I would love to see a work of Shakespeare represented. I would love to study drama in some of its prestigious performing arts schools...It would be like fulfill a dream! And if I have lucky, I would love to see to Queen or listen to one of my favorite bands in live: Coldplay!
